Supply Desk is seeking a caring, resilient, and dedicated Behaviour-Focused Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Watford area from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and learning. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who may require additional support with managing their emotions, developing positive behaviours, and engaging successfully with school life.

Working alongside class teachers, the SENCO, pastoral staff, and the wider school team, you will provide targeted support to pupils who may display challenging or disruptive behaviours. You will help children develop positive strategies, build confidence, improve their relationships with others, and overcome barriers that may affect their learning.

The school is looking for someone who is calm, patient, consistent, and confident when managing challenging situations. The successful candidate will have a nurturing approach while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations, helping pupils to understand and manage their behaviour in a positive and constructive way.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with a particular interest in behaviour and pastoral support to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking primary school community.

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional, and pastoral support.
• Work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to implement appropriate behaviour support strategies.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, providing consistent encouragement, guidance, and reassurance.
• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, independence, and positive social skills.
• Respond calmly and confidently to challenging or disruptive behaviour, following the school's behaviour policies and procedures.
• Help pupils identify triggers and develop appropriate strategies for managing their emotions and behaviour.
• Encourage positive behaviour and maintain clear, consistent boundaries and high expectations.
• Support pupils to engage positively with classroom learning and overcome barriers to their education.
• Assist with classroom activities, interventions, breaktimes, lunchtimes, and other aspects of the school day where behavioural support may be required.
• Monitor pupils' behaviour and progress, sharing relevant observations and information with teachers and appropriate school staff.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, teachers, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with the wider school team to support the progress and wellbeing of all pupils.
• Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and school events.
• Uphold high standards of safeguarding, behaviour, and pupil wellbeing.

• Has previous experience working with children in a primary school or educational setting.
• Has experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, emotional needs, or additional support requirements.
• Demonstrates a calm, patient, consistent, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
• Is confident supporting pupils who may display challenging or disruptive behaviour.
• Has strong communication and interpersonal skills and can build positive relationships with pupils.
• Understands the importance of clear boundaries, consistency, and positive reinforcement.
• Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
• Can remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging situations.
• Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Is reliable, adaptable, proactive, and able to respond positively to the individual needs of pupils.
