The Role - Behaviour Mentor – Lewisham

We are looking for a confident and experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist PRU in Lewisham on a long-term basis, starting immediately. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with young people who may have experienced difficulties within mainstream education and require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support.

You will support students who may present with SEMH, challenging behaviour, ADHD, ASD, emotional regulation difficulties, low engagement, anxiety and additional learning needs.

The role will involve providing 1:1 intervention and small-group support, helping students manage their behaviour, regulate their emotions and overcome barriers to learning.

You will support students both inside and outside the classroom, helping them re-engage with education, develop positive relationships and build confidence in their ability to succeed.

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will use positive behaviour strategies, de-escalation techniques and consistent boundaries to support students during challenging situations. You will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to identify triggers, encourage positive choices and help students make progress. Team Teach or Physical Intervention Training is highly desirable.

The School - Behaviour Mentor – Lewisham

This is a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Lewisham, supporting young people who require an alternative approach to education. The provision supports students who may have experienced challenging behaviour, exclusion, disengagement from mainstream education, SEMH needs and barriers to learning.

The PRU provides a structured and supportive environment where students receive individualised academic, behavioural and emotional support. Staff focus on building positive relationships, improving behaviour and helping students develop the confidence and skills needed to re-engage with education.

The setting offers an excellent opportunity for a Behaviour Mentor who is passionate about working with young people who may have struggled within a mainstream school environment and who benefits from a more personalised approach.
