Behaviour Mentor

Engage Education

We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join a dedicated team within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool. This is a highly rewarding role supporting young people who may face barriers to learning due to social, emotional, behavioural or additional needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping students re-engage with education, develop positive behaviours, and build the confidence and skills needed to succeed both in school and beyond.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour and emotional support
  • Implement behaviour strategies in line with school policy
  • Support de-escalation and positive intervention techniques
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and external agencies
  • Promote a safe, structured and supportive learning environment

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people with challenging behaviour (school, youth work, care or similar settings)
  • Be calm, patient and resilient under pressure
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be committed to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable learners
  • Be a positive role model for young people

In return, we offer a supportive and experienced team, ongoing training in behaviour management and safeguarding, and the opportunity to make a genuine and lasting impact on young lives.
