The Role - Behaviour Mentor

A welcoming mainstream secondary school in the London Borough of Islington is seeking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join its pastoral support team from September on a long-term basis.

As the successful Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students across KS3 and KS4 who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support to fully engage with their education. You will provide one-to-one and small-group interventions, help students develop positive relationships, encourage appropriate behaviour for learning and implement behaviour support strategies alongside teaching staff and the pastoral team. You will also work collaboratively with the SENCO, Heads of Year and safeguarding team to ensure students receive the support they need both academically and emotionally.

Previous experience supporting students with challenging behaviour is essential, while experience working with students with Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be calm, resilient, empathetic and confident in building positive relationships with young people, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.
