Tradewind Recruitment is working with a forward-thinking secondary school in Haringey seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team from September. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity, ideal for someone who enjoys supporting young people to achieve both academically and personally.

The school is committed to creating a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in helping students develop positive behaviours, improve attendance, increase engagement in lessons and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.



The Role

You will work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4 who require additional behavioural, emotional or pastoral support. Some pupils may have diagnosed additional needs such as ADHD, Autism or SEMH, while others simply require consistent mentoring and guidance to help them reach their potential.

Working closely with Heads of Year, the SENDCo, safeguarding team and classroom teachers, you will deliver targeted interventions, provide in-class support where required and encourage students to make positive choices throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and pastoral support
  • Build positive relationships with students who require additional guidance
  • Support behaviour management within lessons
  • Deliver restorative conversations following incidents
  • Encourage positive attendance and punctuality
  • Help students regulate emotions and develop coping strategies
  • Liaise with teaching staff and pastoral leaders regarding student progress
  • Promote a positive learning culture throughout the school


About You

The ideal candidate will be resilient, approachable and passionate about supporting young people.

  • Behaviour Mentor
  • Youth Worker
  • Support Worker
  • Sports Coach
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Learning Mentor
  • Residential Support Worker

You will also have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong behaviour management techniques
  • A calm and patient approach
  • Confidence working with teenagers
  • An Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
