We are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Newport that is seeking passionate individuals to join their team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to gain invaluable experience supporting young people in an educational setting, particularly if you’re considering a future career in educational psychology, teaching, counselling, or mental health support.
The Role
In this role, you will work closely with pupils who may be facing a range of behavioural, emotional, or additional learning challenges. Some students may find it difficult to engage in a mainstream classroom setting and require targeted 1:1 support or small group interventions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, helping them stay engaged and focused
- Assisting students in managing their behaviour and emotions in a positive way
- Helping to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Working alongside teachers and SEN staff to implement tailored support strategies
- Building trusting relationships with pupils and guiding them through challenging periods in school

- A degree in Psychology (or a related field)
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- Patience, empathy, and resilience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An interest in behaviour support, mental health, or education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
