Open Control Solutions is a growing Building Energy Management Systems (BeMS) and controls company primarily based in the North of England

We work with customers to support, improve and develop building control systems, helping buildings operate efficiently, reliably and effectively.

We are looking for a Service & Support Engineer to join our team. This role would suit someone who already has experience in BMS/BeMS service and support, as well as someone from an HVAC, electrical, controls or control-panel background who is looking to develop a career within the BEMS industry.

The most important things to us are technical ability, the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

About the Role

Working primarily across West Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, you will become part of an experienced controls team supporting customers and their building management systems.

The role will involve a mixture of planned maintenance, fault finding, technical support and small works, with the opportunity to develop your knowledge of BEMS and building controls.

Depending on your existing experience, your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance on BEMS and control systems

Attending reactive service calls and diagnosing faults

Fault finding on electrical and control systems

Working with HVAC plant and associated control systems

Checking controllers, sensors, actuators and other field devices

Reading and understanding electrical and control-panel schematics

Carrying out small repairs, modifications and upgrades

Supporting commissioning and system improvements

Identifying opportunities to improve system performance and energy efficiency

Providing professional technical support to customers

Completing service reports and maintaining accurate system documentation

Working alongside the wider engineering team on projects and customer requirements

Who We're Looking For

We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers.

You may already be an experienced BeMS/BMS Service or Support Engineer, or you may have a background in another related industry and be looking for the opportunity to move into building controls.

Relevant backgrounds could include:

• BEMS / BMS service or commissioning

• HVAC service engineering

• Electrical engineering

• Control-panel wiring and testing

• Building services engineering

• Industrial controls or automation

• Electrical maintenance

• PLC or control systems

You don't need to know everything about BEMS to apply.

If you have good electrical or controls knowledge, can fault find, understand schematics and have a genuine interest in learning how building control systems work, we would like to hear from you.

What We're Looking For

• Good technical ability and a practical approach to problem solving

• Electrical, HVAC, controls or BEMS experience

• An ability to read electrical/control schematics

• Good fault-finding skills

• An interest in Building Energy Management Systems and building controls

• A willingness to learn new technologies and develop your skills

• Good communication and customer-facing skills

• A positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team

• Ability to work independently when required

• Full UK driving licence

• Ability to travel throughout West Yorkshire and surrounding areas

BEMS experience is advantageous but not essential for the right candidate.
