Bid Manager

Bid Solutions

A Birmingham-based technology company who deliver language services to the NHS and wider health and social care sector is looking for a Bid Manager to take full commercial ownership of its tender function. The company is in a strong growth phase, with an ambitious revenue target and a commercial team being built to match it.

The Role

Competitive tender and framework procurement is the primary route to market in this sector. This role owns that vertical end to end: identifying and qualifying opportunities, owning bid strategy and submission quality, managing framework relationships, and building the market intelligence that shapes commercial focus. The Bid Manager will also manage a Bid Writer directly and spend time out in the market building relationships with framework providers and procurement bodies — this is not a desk-bound writing role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the bid and tender pipeline from opportunity identification through to submission and feedback
  • Make bid / no-bid calls and set win-themed strategy for every submission
  • Personally write and quality-assure the most strategically significant bids
  • Manage relationships with NHS framework providers (including NHS SBS and HTE) and pursue new framework accreditations
  • Build and maintain market intelligence on NHS/public sector procurement activity and competitor positioning
  • Directly manage and coach a Bid Writer
  • Report on pipeline, win rate, and market intelligence to the Head of Sales and Marketing

What's Required

  • Proven track record managing and winning public sector bids, ideally in NHS or healthcare procurement
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement processes (framework agreements, PQQ, ITT, RFP, direct awards)
  • Excellent written communication and strong commercial judgement
  • Experience managing or coaching others
  • Confident relationship-builder, comfortable engaging procurement leads and framework bodies

Nice to have: experience in language services or health / social care; existing NHS framework relationships; APMP certification; experience building a bid function from scratch.
