BMS Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance BMS Engineer to join an established M&E contractor on a major commercial projects in Cardiff.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing and fault-finding of Building Management Systems (BMS), working closely with the M&E project team and other specialist subcontractors.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced BMS Engineer looking for a long-term freelance assignment with an established contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, commissioning and testing of BMS control systems.
• BMS panel and controls installation.
• Carrying out point-to-point testing.
• Fault finding and diagnostics.
• Programming and modifying BMS systems where required.
• Integration of mechanical plant and HVAC equipment into the BMS.
• Trend logging and system optimisation.
• Reading and interpreting electrical, mechanical and BMS drawings.
• Working alongside mechanical and electrical engineers.
• Liaising with the Site Manager, Project Manager and commissioning team.
• Producing commissioning records and test documentation.
• Identifying defects and ensuring systems are operating correctly prior to handover.
• Supporting final commissioning and client demonstrations.

Experience Required

• Proven experience as a BMS Engineer / BMS Commissioning Engineer.
• Strong commercial building-services experience.
• Experience working on large M&E projects.
• Good understanding of HVAC controls and mechanical plant.
• Ability to read BMS schematics, control drawings and M&E drawings.
• Experience with commissioning and fault finding.
• Good understanding of HVAC control strategies.
• Comfortable working independently on site.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
