We are recruiting on behalf of our client for the position of Bodyshop Controller in Burgess Hill. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals within the automotive industry who possess strong leadership and organisational skills. The successful individual will oversee daily workshop operations, manage a team, and ensure high-quality repair delivery in a busy, family-run bodyshop group.

  • Competitive salary up to £42,120 per annum, with potential bonus earnings bringing OTE to approximately £49,320
  • 45-hour working week with flexible hours (Monday to Friday)
  • One in four Saturday mornings on a rota basis
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, with a day off if a birthday falls during the week

Duties of a Bodyshop Controller :
  • Oversee daily operations of the bodyshop, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to quality standards
  • Manage and lead a team of technicians, setting daily and weekly targets to meet repair deadlines
  • Conduct morning toolbox meetings and liaise with the parts department to maintain productivity
  • Ensure the workshop complies with health and safety regulations and maintains a tidy, safe environment
  • Drive the team to achieve and exceed monthly targets and production goals as a Bodyshop Controller 
  • Build and maintain relationships with external clients such as dealerships and ARC to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Utilise basic IT systems and spreadsheets to track units, workflow, and performance metrics
  • Maintain high standards of service delivery and foster a team-focused work environment
Requirements of a Bodyshop Controller :
  • Proven experience as a Bodyshop Controller within a bodyshop or automotive environment (Car Dealership Controllers are encouraged to apply)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities, with a focus on operational efficiency and quality
  • Effective communication skills to motivate and lead a team
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards in a workshop setting
  • Ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
