Role:               Bookkeeper
Location:       Woolston, Warrington
Pay:               Up to £15.50 per hour
Hours:            15 hours per week, flexible on hours.
Contract:       Temporary to permanent 

 

Our client, are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their tea. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration, as well as preparing monthly management accounts and supporting the wider business.

 
We are looking for someone who is confident using Xero and Excel, has a good understanding of accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments, and is able to use their own initiative to identify and resolve issues.

 

Duties of a Bookkeeper

  • Inputting purchase invoices on to company databases
  • Dealing with creditor and supplier queries.
  • Completing bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
  • Preparing and posting monthly journals.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, including calculating and posting accruals and prepayments, with supporting schedules maintained on Excel.
  • Collating and sending the required wages information each month and inputting the monthly wages journal.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
  • Liaising with the company’s accountants regarding annual accounts and providing the required information for the Directors’ annual tax information.
  • Organising and processing all paperwork for new starters
  • Keeping on top of the accounts inbox, ensuring emails and queries are dealt with promptly.
  • Ensuring any Corporation Tax liabilities are paid on time and by the relevant due date.
  • Dealing with any ad-hoc finance, bookkeeping or administrative tasks as required.
 

Requirements of a Bookkeeper:

  • Previous bookkeeping experience.
  • Confident using Xero and Microsoft Excel.
  • Good understanding of accruals and prepayments.
  • Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to think for themselves and use their own initiative.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication skills and confidence dealing with colleagues, suppliers and external accountants.
