Pay: Up to £15.50 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week, flexible on hours.
Contract: Temporary to permanent
Our client, are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their tea.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration, as well as preparing monthly management accounts and supporting the wider business.
We are looking for someone who is confident using Xero and Excel, has a good understanding of accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments, and is able to use their own initiative to identify and resolve issues.
Duties of a Bookkeeper
- Inputting purchase invoices on to company databases
- Dealing with creditor and supplier queries.
- Completing bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
- Preparing and posting monthly journals.
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including calculating and posting accruals and prepayments, with supporting schedules maintained on Excel.
- Collating and sending the required wages information each month and inputting the monthly wages journal.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Liaising with the company’s accountants regarding annual accounts and providing the required information for the Directors’ annual tax information.
- Organising and processing all paperwork for new starters
- Keeping on top of the accounts inbox, ensuring emails and queries are dealt with promptly.
- Ensuring any Corporation Tax liabilities are paid on time and by the relevant due date.
- Dealing with any ad-hoc finance, bookkeeping or administrative tasks as required.
Requirements of a Bookkeeper:
- Previous bookkeeping experience.
- Confident using Xero and Microsoft Excel.
- Good understanding of accruals and prepayments.
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Proactive approach with the ability to think for themselves and use their own initiative.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with colleagues, suppliers and external accountants.
