About the Client A fast-growing, Tier 1 Consultancy focused on delivering over £1bn of low-carbon district energy and building energy systems is seeking a Breakdown Engineer (Commercial Gas).

The Opportunity

  • Deliver operation and maintenance services across a fleet of heat networks.

  • Undertake a varied workload including planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), reactive call-outs, planned repairs, and project work.

  • Improve reliability and network efficiency within plant rooms housing boilers in excess of 1MW.

  • Work as part of a functional commercial team to review root causes for plant failure and develop scopes of work for plant remediation.

  • Provide buddying and training for new engineers within a safe and supportive working environment.

Package & Benefits

  • Base salary of £45,000 to £50,000 per annum.

  • 40-hour work week with a typical 1-in-4 on-call rota requirement.

Technical Essentials

  • Valid commercial gas registration and Testing & Purging Training Course (TPCP1).

  • NVQ Level 3 in Gas or a similar qualification.

  • Demonstrated experience servicing, fault-finding, and repairing commercial gas boilers from manufacturers such as Hoval, Hamworthy, Ideal, and Buderus.

  • Operational knowledge of heat network energy centres, plant rooms, and commercial non-gas plant (e.g., pumps, valves, strainers, plate heat exchangers).

  • Competency in safe mechanical and electrical isolation, basic electrical skills, and the ability to read technical drawings including P&IDs and mechanical schematics.

  • Full UK driving license held for a minimum of 12 months.
