BRICKLAYING LECTURER - PRISON EDUCATION

Academics are currently recruiting for an experienced Bricklaying Lecturer to join a prison education setting in Rochester on a permanent basis, delivering high-quality vocational training to adult learners.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate Bricklaying Lecturer, Bricklaying Tutor or experienced trades professional with teaching experience who wants to use their expertise to help learners develop practical skills, gain qualifications and prepare for employment beyond the prison environment.



THE ROLE

As a Bricklaying Lecturer, you will:

  • Deliver engaging and practical Bricklaying lessons to adult learners.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality vocational sessions in line with the curriculum.
  • Support learners working towards relevant Bricklaying qualifications.
  • Develop learners' practical construction skills and confidence.
  • Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner achievement and progression.
  • Create a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote employability, work-ready skills and progression opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with education and prison staff to support learner success.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety and professional conduct.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We would love to hear from Bricklaying Lecturers, Bricklaying Tutors, Construction Lecturers or experienced Bricklayers who have:

  • Strong practical experience within Bricklaying/Construction.
  • Experience delivering training, teaching or mentoring learners.
  • A relevant Bricklaying/Construction qualification.
  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • The ability to engage and motivate adult learners.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A patient, professional and supportive approach.
  • An interest in helping learners develop skills for their future careers.

Previous prison education experience is desirable but not essential - full support will be provided to candidates who are new to the prison education environment.

You will have the opportunity to help adult learners gain practical, transferable skills that can support genuine rehabilitation, employment and positive progression after release.
