TeacherActive is currently recruiting a British Sign Language (BSL) Learning Support Assistant to work within a welcoming and inclusive school in Aberystwyth.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support a pupil with hearing impairment, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. You'll become part of a supportive school community that values inclusion, diversity, and providing every child with the opportunity to succeed.

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a deaf or hearing-impaired pupil
• Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication throughout the school day
• Support pupils in accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities
• Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN/ALN team to deliver tailored support
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
• Help create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment

✅ BSL qualification or proven competency in British Sign Language (Level 2 or above desirable)
✅ Previous experience working with children or young people 
✅ Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) is advantageous
✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
✅ A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
