Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)
Confido Consult Ltd
Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)
Location: Flexible (within ~2.5 hours of London)
Salary: Up to £85,000 (DOE)
The Opportunity:
We’re supporting a growing and forward-thinking organisation in the Building Safety space, looking to appoint an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD) to play a key role in delivering compliance across a diverse project portfolio.
With the introduction of the Building Safety Act, the BRPD role has become a critical function within the industry – placing greater accountability on design-stage compliance and fundamentally changing how projects are planned, coordinated, and delivered. As a result, experienced BRPDs are now central to ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements from the outset, reducing risk and driving higher standards across the built environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the forefront of this evolving landscape, influencing projects from an early design stage through to completion.
The Role:
As a BRPD, you will take ownership of the Building Regulations compliance process during the design phase, working closely with clients, architects, and wider design teams to ensure all duty holder responsibilities are met.
You’ll be instrumental in embedding compliance into project design, advising stakeholders, and ensuring robust processes are followed throughout.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience operating as a Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD)
- Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act and current regulatory landscape
- Ideally also a Registered Building Inspector (Class 2D+), though not essential
- Background in Building Control, Architecture, or a related discipline
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and advise clients
What’s on Offer:
- Salary up to £85,000, tailored to experience
- Flexible / hybrid working with no strict location constraints
- Autonomy and influence within a growing business
- Exposure to a varied and technically interesting project portfolio
- Clear long-term progression opportunities
If you’re currently operating as a BRPD – or looking to step into a role where you can fully focus on this function – this represents a strong next move within a progressive and supportive environment.
