Hoop Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a leading not-for-profit organisation to recruit a Building Surveyor covering Bristol and Bath. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your technical expertise with meaningful work, helping older, vulnerable and disabled people remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes.
This is a hybrid role where you'll work alongside dedicated Case Workers, managing residential repair, maintenance and adaptation projects from initial survey through to completion. Building Surveyor Responsibilities
- Carry out residential property surveys to identify repairs, maintenance and adaptation requirements.
- Produce CAD drawings, technical designs and specifications for planning and Building Control applications.
- Prepare schedules of work, specifications, contractor tenders and cost estimates.
- Act as Project and Contract Manager, overseeing projects from survey through to completion.
- Monitor contractors, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and to a high standard in line with CDM Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
- Provide expert advice on building defects, renovations, alterations, extensions and disabled adaptations.
- Work closely with Case Workers, Local Authorities, Building Inspectors, Planning Officers, contractors and customers to deliver successful outcomes.
- Ensure projects comply with Building Regulations, planning requirements and sustainability standards.
What we're looking for
Essential
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Building Surveying, Surveying, Interior Architecture or Construction.
- Experience delivering domestic residential building projects from survey through to completion.
- Proven CAD experience producing technical drawings and plans.
- Experience managing contractors, contracts and project delivery.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning, CDM and Health & Safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
- Full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle.
- Ability to travel frequently between Bristol and Bath.
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
- Experience delivering Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) projects.
- Experience working with disabled adaptations or vulnerable homeowners.
- Knowledge of Decent Homes Standards, Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and retrofit or energy efficiency measures.
- Health & Safety qualifications.
- Experience working with listed or heritage buildings.
