Hyperion Partners are working in partnership with a leading Housing Association to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor for an initial 3–6 month contract based in West London. The opportunity arises within a functioning asset management team looking ro support with a short-term project focused on repairs, compliance as well as other surveying duties. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring homes remain safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard for residents.

The Role

As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for inspecting properties, diagnosing building defects, providing technical solutions, and supporting the effective delivery of repairs and maintenance programmes. You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and residents to ensure works are completed efficiently and to the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed inspections of residential properties to identify defects, faults, and repair requirements.
  • Diagnose building issues and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Provide professional advice and support to repairs and property services teams.
  • Produce detailed reports, specifications, and recommendations.
  • Manage and monitor building-related works from initial assessment through to completion.
  • Ensure contractors deliver works safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Support planned maintenance and improvement programmes.
  • Assess property conditions and identify opportunities for preventative solutions.
  • Ensure works comply with health & safety requirements, legislation, and housing standards.
  • Support the resolution of resident queries and complaints relating to building works.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and technically strong Building Surveyor with experience within residential property or social housing environments.

You will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Building Surveyor.
  • Strong knowledge of building defects, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Experience inspecting residential properties and providing technical recommendations.
  • Ability to manage contractors and monitor quality of works.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Experience within Housing Associations, Local Authorities, or similar environments is desirable.
