Building Surveyor – Stock Condition Surveys / DEA

We are currently recruiting experienced Building Surveyors / Stock Condition Surveyors to undertake a programme of residential property surveys across South London

The role will involve completing detailed Stock Condition Surveys and Domestic Energy Assessments (DEA) across occupied residential properties on behalf of a Housing Association.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Undertaking detailed Stock Condition Surveys of residential properties.
  • Completing Domestic Energy Assessments (DEA) and collecting the information required for energy performance assessments.
  • Assessing the condition and remaining life expectancy of key building components.
  • Inspecting elements including roofs, windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, heating systems, external walls and other internal/external components.
  • Identifying defects, deterioration and required repair or replacement works.
  • Recording component condition, age and anticipated renewal requirements.
  • Collecting accurate property and asset data using handheld/tablet-based surveying systems.
  • Ensuring surveys, photographs and supporting information are completed accurately and consistently.
  • Working efficiently across a programme of occupied Housing Association properties.
  • Liaising professionally with residents when accessing occupied homes.
  • Meeting agreed daily/weekly survey targets while maintaining a high standard of data quality.

Requirements

Candidates should have previous experience undertaking Stock Condition Surveys within residential or social housing properties.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous Stock Condition Surveying experience.
  • A recognised DEA qualification/accreditation.
  • Experience completing domestic energy assessments and collecting RdSAP data.
  • Good knowledge of residential building construction and common building defects.
  • Experience assessing component condition and lifecycle/replacement requirements.
  • Ability to accurately record survey information electronically.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills when dealing with residents and clients.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.

Desirable

  • Building Surveying or construction-related qualification.
  • Previous Housing Association / Local Authority surveying experience.
  • Experience working on large-scale housing stock condition programmes.
  • Current DBS.
  • Existing DEA accreditation and relevant certification.
