Building Surveyor (Legal Disrepair) – Make a Real Difference for Residents
Are you an experienced Building Surveyor with expertise in legal disrepair and residential maintenance?

Working within a regional Property Services team, you'll manage legal disrepair cases from inspection through to completion, using your technical expertise to achieve positive outcomes for residents while protecting Peabody's interests. 

What you'll do

  • Manage legal disrepair cases from initial inspection through to resolution.
  • Carry out surveys, investigate defects and prepare specifications, reports and schedules of work.
  • Oversee contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly and to a high standard.
  • Act as the technical lead for residents, colleagues and stakeholders throughout each case.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to minimise risk and improve customer outcomes.

What you'll need

  • Extensive building surveying experience, ideally within social housing.
  • Strong knowledge of the Housing Disrepair Protocol and building pathology.
  • Experience managing complex cases, contractors and schedules of rates.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and report-writing skills.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation, building regulations and property systems.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Professional membership is desirable.
  • Significant relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

This role involves regular travel across your designated area to inspect homes, manage contractors and resolve legal disrepair cases.

Participation in the Property Services Out of Hours rota is available but not compulsory.
