Senior Business Analyst - CPQ / Pricing & Quoting Transformation

Location: Remote - UK based
Contract: 3 months
Rate: £480-£500 per day/ Outside IR35
Start: ASAP/immediate preferred
Working pattern: UK core hours, with some flexibility required to work with US and Vietnam-based stakeholders

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a strategic transformation programme focused on replacing a complex legacy pricing and quoting (CPQ) solution with a new cloud-based platform.

The existing solution is a highly customised standalone Microsoft Access application, supported by associated processes and data. The programme will move towards a modern cloud-based solution, with elements of the new architecture hosted within Microsoft Azure.

This is a hands-on, end-to-end BA role. The successful candidate will need to quickly understand complex pricing, quoting and lead-to-order business processes, work closely with senior business and IT stakeholders, and translate those processes into detailed requirements that can be delivered by an offshore development team.

The role will involve both business process analysis and detailed software delivery, from understanding the current operation and identifying pain points, through to requirements, development, UAT and Go-Live.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with senior business and IT stakeholders to understand and document complex CPQ, pricing, quoting and lead-to-order processes.
  • Map current and future-state business processes, from L2 business processes through to L4 task/activity level where required.
  • Identify operational pain points, inefficiencies, risks and opportunities within existing processes.
  • Analyse business requirements and help determine what should be delivered within the current project phase/MVP.
  • Challenge requirements constructively, helping stakeholders assess business value, priority, scope and feasibility.
  • Manage and negotiate scope, finding practical compromises and workable solutions where required.
  • Translate high-level business requirements and process documentation into detailed functional requirements and specifications.
  • Create clear, developer-ready user stories and acceptance criteria using Jira or a similar tool.
  • Translate requirements and specifications for an offshore BA and development team, ensuring there is minimal ambiguity.
  • Work closely with developers and technical stakeholders throughout delivery to clarify requirements and resolve questions.
  • Support backlog refinement and Agile/Scrum delivery activities where appropriate.
  • Facilitate SIT/UAT, working with business stakeholders and SMEs to validate delivered functionality.
  • Support defect identification, clarification and resolution throughout testing.
  • Support Go-Live readiness, deployment and post-deployment validation/smoke testing where required.
  • Maintain clear requirements traceability and ensure that business and technical requirements remain aligned throughout the lifecycle.
  • Act as the key bridge between business stakeholders, IT, offshore delivery teams and project leadership.

About You

We're looking for a Senior Business Analyst with 10+ years' experience who can operate confidently at both strategic and detailed levels.

You will ideally have:

  • Hands-on experience with CPQ / Configure, Price, Quote solutions.
  • Strong understanding of pricing, quoting and lead-to-order processes.
  • Experience working across complex business processes with multiple use cases, rules, approvals, pricing logic and downstream processes.
  • Proven experience working across the full BA lifecycle, from business case/process analysis through requirements, development, UAT and Go-Live.
  • Strong business process mapping experience, including AS-IS / TO-BE and detailed process documentation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders and negotiate scope where appropriate.
  • Strong requirements analysis and documentation skills, with the ability to translate complex business needs into detailed, actionable specifications.
  • Experience writing developer-ready user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience working with Jira or similar backlog management tools.
  • Experience working with offshore/distributed development teams.
  • Strong UAT and testing experience, including facilitating business validation and managing defects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders and development teams across different cultures and time zones.
  • Experience working across Agile, Scrum and/or Waterfall environments. We are more interested in your ability to deliver than adherence to one particular methodology.
  • The ability to work independently and get up to speed quickly in a complex business environment.

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or cloud-based transformation.
  • Experience working with legacy application replacement or modernisation programmes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or other legacy/custom-built business applications.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams across the UK/Europe, US and Asia.

The Project Environment

The BA will work with stakeholders across multiple locations, including:

  • UK/Europe: BA, Project Management and technical/business stakeholders
  • US: Senior business stakeholders
  • Vietnam: Offshore development team

The role is fully remote, with UK core working hours and some flexibility required to accommodate collaboration with US stakeholders in the afternoon and the Vietnam development team where necessary.

What's on Offer

  • 3-month contract
  • £480-£500/day, depending on experience and final budget approval
  • Remote UK
  • Immediate or short-notice start preferred
  • High-profile CPQ and pricing transformation programme
  • Opportunity to play a key role in defining the future-state business processes and solution
