Business Analyst – Business Transformation & Process Improvement

London / Hybrid
Initial 12 month fixed-term contract

The Opportunity

We are seeking an accomplished Business Analyst to support a programme of business change, operational improvement and technology-enabled transformation.

You will play a central role in understanding business challenges, shaping practical improvements and ensuring that business requirements are translated into effective solutions.

This opportunity would suit a confident, delivery-oriented Business Analyst who is comfortable taking ownership of assignments, engaging with stakeholders across different functions and producing high-quality outputs within demanding timescales.

The successful individual will combine strong analytical capabilities with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, helping the organisation improve the way it operates while supporting the successful introduction of new systems and processes.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Business Process Optimisation

  • Review existing operating procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, consistency and effectiveness.

  • Examine operational challenges, establish underlying causes and evaluate potential improvements.

  • Work with business representatives to develop practical future operating processes that support organisational objectives.

  • Produce clear process documentation and visual models, including current-state and future-state workflows.

  • Apply recognised process-mapping techniques, including BPMN, where appropriate.

Business Requirements

  • Engage with business teams to understand operational needs, challenges and desired outcomes.

  • Lead discovery activities through structured discussions, workshops and other requirements-gathering techniques.

  • Translate stakeholder expectations into clearly defined functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate requirements documentation, including user stories and supporting acceptance criteria.

  • Help business stakeholders evaluate competing priorities and agree the requirements that will deliver the greatest value.

  • Maintain visibility of requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring proposed solutions remain aligned with the original business objectives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Establish productive working relationships with colleagues, delivery teams and external stakeholders.

  • Bring together individuals from different functions to build a shared understanding of business priorities and proposed changes.

  • Facilitate productive workshops and discussions, helping stakeholders reach agreement on requirements and solutions.

  • Communicate complex business or technical information in a clear and accessible way.

  • Act as an effective connection between operational teams, project stakeholders and technology specialists.

Change Delivery

  • Work alongside project and technical delivery teams to ensure business requirements are accurately interpreted and implemented.

  • Review proposed solutions to assess whether they address the identified business needs.

  • Contribute to solution validation, testing preparation and the assessment of delivery outcomes.

  • Support the development of acceptance criteria and participate in relevant testing and review activities.

  • Help ensure that new processes and systems are practical, understandable and ready for adoption.

What Successful Delivery Looks Like

The successful Business Analyst will demonstrate their value through tangible improvements and well-managed delivery outcomes.

Key indicators of success include:

Well-defined business requirements: Requirements are complete, understood, appropriately approved and sufficiently detailed to support solution development and testing.

Improved operational processes: Future-state processes address genuine business challenges, reduce unnecessary complexity and are designed with practical implementation in mind.

Effective stakeholder alignment: Business representatives and delivery teams have a consistent understanding of priorities, expectations and intended outcomes.

Reliable delivery contribution: Analysis activities are completed to agreed timescales, with issues identified early and clear communication maintained throughout.

Experience & Capabilities

Essential Experience

We are particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Substantial practical experience working as a Business Analyst within business change, transformation or technology delivery environments.

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop evidence-based recommendations.

  • Experience eliciting, defining and managing business requirements across multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Confidence producing user stories, process documentation and supporting analysis artefacts.

  • Practical experience of process mapping, workflow design and business process improvement techniques.

  • Knowledge of established methodologies such as BPMN or Six Sigma.

  • Previous involvement in software development initiatives, including collaboration with technical delivery teams.

  • The ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of accuracy.
