Business Development Director – Fire Sprinkler Installations

Salary: £75,000–£90,000 basic DOE + bonus potential

About the Role

Cannon Fire Safety is looking to appoint a commercially driven Business Development Director to support the continued growth of the business.

This is a newly created, business-critical role focused on driving sales performance, developing new business opportunities and shaping the sales strategy for the next stage of growth. The successful candidate will take ownership of new business development, tender opportunities, key account growth and sales forecasting, while working closely with the Board and wider operational teams.

This role would suit an experienced sales leader with a proven background in fire sprinkler installations, strong commercial awareness and the ability to build long-term client relationships across technical, construction, fire safety and facilities markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the sales strategy for new business growth across fire sprinkler installation projects.

  • Identify, develop and convert new customer opportunities in line with agreed margins and business targets.

  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of sales opportunities, tenders, quotations and key client meetings.

  • Develop new revenue streams across relevant sectors and market opportunities.

  • Provide monthly sales forecasts, pipeline updates and commercial reporting for Board meetings.

  • Track sales performance against monthly and annual targets, KPIs and business plans.

  • Work closely with operations to ensure new projects are commercially viable and delivered effectively.

  • Manage and grow key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer care, retention and repeat business.

  • Attend networking events to strengthen Cannon Fire Safety’s market presence.

  • Champion effective use of CRM systems to track the full customer journey from prospect to project win.

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this role will be measured against sales growth, pipeline development, tender conversion, new customer acquisition, key account growth, CRM accuracy, sales forecasting and measurable return on sales and marketing activity.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record selling fire sprinkler installation projects.

  • Strong commercial and sales leadership experience.

  • Technical knowledge of sprinkler installation projects and associated supply chains.

  • Understanding of relevant fire safety standards, including BS9251:2021, BS EN 12845 and BS9991.

  • Experience developing sales strategy, managing pipelines and converting tender opportunities.

  • Strong networking, presentation and communication skills.

  • The ability to influence at senior level and build lasting client relationships.

  • A proactive, self-motivated and target-driven approach.
