Our client is an innovative, industry-leading manufacturer serving the construction, industrial, and rail sectors. They are seeking a Business Development Executive to look after their Rail sector to join their growing team and align with their 5-year growth strategy.
You will be responsible for driving growth and revenue to 5 million by 2030 within the UK rail industry through a combination of direct sales, project pursuit, product focus and management of specialist reseller accounts that operate specifically within the rail sector.

The role focuses on building strong relationships with rail contractors, infrastructure providers, project and procurement functions and sector-specific resellers. You will own the full sales cycle - from lead generation right through to securing orders.

Duties:


Direct Sales

  • Identify, develop, and convert direct sales opportunities across rail main contractors, subcontractors, infrastructure providers and train operating companies.
  • Build relationships with all stakeholders across contractors and routes
  • Lead the full sales cycle including scoping needs, specifying products, preparing quotations, and closing sales.
  • Track major projects, frameworks and tenders to position them early in the buying process.
  • Provide technical guidance and top product knowledge and recommendations aligned to rail safety, storage, and compliance requirements.

Reseller Management (Rail-Specific Partners)

  • Manage relationships with approved reseller partners.
  • Support these partners with product knowledge, commercial guidance, and rail-aligned sales messaging.
  • Receive end-customer details from reseller partners and convert opportunities directly or in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Ensure reseller partners adhere to pricing, branding, product standards, and sector expectations.

Pipeline, Reporting & Marketing Insight

  • Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasting and reporting for all direct and reseller-driven rail sector activity.
  • Monitor trends, safety requirements, new standards, new products and infrastructure programmes
  • Provide internal feedback to support product development, innovation, and new sector opportunities.
  • Deliver regular performance updates and growth analysis to the Non-Construction Sector Principal.

Stakeholder Engagement & Sector Presence

  • Build strong relationships with key rail personnel, bodies, framework holders, and senior decision-makers.
  • Represent Aat rail the company at events, exhibitions, and supplier days.
  • Collaborate internally with sales reps, marketing, product, and operations teams

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the construction, rail, industrial or another technical B2B sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through to closing business.
  • Experience developing and managing reseller, distributor or channel partner relationships.
  • Experience selling into contractors, infrastructure providers, procurement teams or project-based environments.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with a resilient, proactive approach and a tenacious attitude towards achieving results.

Benefits

Salary- £45,000- £50,000
