Rooted Recruitment Limited is partnering with an established UK packaging manufacturer to recruit an experienced Business Development Manager, with a specific focus on carton packaging and folding cartons.

This is a new-business-focused opportunity suited to someone who already understands the carton packaging market, its products, manufacturing processes and customer base. You’ll be responsible for developing new relationships, identifying commercial opportunities and converting prospects into long-term customers.

• Identify, target and win new business opportunities for folding cartons, printed cartons and bespoke carton packaging solutions, developing a strong pipeline of prospective customers.

• Use your existing knowledge of the carton packaging market to engage relevant decision-makers and confidently discuss substrates, print, finishes, structural requirements and production capabilities.

• Manage the complete sales process from initial prospecting and technical discussions through to quotations, sampling, commercial negotiation and securing new customer accounts.

• Work closely with estimating, production, technical and customer service teams to develop commercially viable packaging solutions that meet customers’ quality, sustainability, cost and performance requirements.

Compensation

• £60,000–£65,000 basic salary, dependent on experience and industry background.

• Remote-based role, offering flexibility for an experienced sales professional to manage their territory and customer relationships effectively.

Skills & Experience

• Proven sales or business development experience within the carton packaging industry is essential, ideally selling folding cartons, printed cartons or closely related cartonboard packaging products.

• Strong technical and commercial understanding of cartonboard, printed packaging, folding and gluing, die-cutting, finishes and value-added packaging solutions.

• Demonstrable track record of identifying, developing and winning new accounts, with existing knowledge of relevant markets and potential carton packaging customers.

• Commercially driven and self-motivated, with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills and the credibility to discuss packaging requirements with buyers, procurement teams, packaging technologists and senior decision-makers.

The Opportunity

Our client is an established UK business providing high-quality printed carton and folding carton packaging solutions to customers across a range of consumer markets.

They are looking for someone who understands that successful carton sales is about more than price. You’ll be able to discuss the complete packaging requirement — from cartonboard selection and structural design through to print, die-cutting, folding, gluing and specialist finishes — and translate those capabilities into commercially compelling solutions for customers.

This role would particularly suit someone currently working for a carton manufacturer, folding carton converter or specialist printed packaging business who has the industry knowledge, customer understanding and commercial network to make an immediate impact.
