Business Development Executive – Construction £30,000 – £35,000 + Commission + Car/Car Allowance

An established business supplying products and services into the construction and commercial sectors is looking for a driven Business Development Executive to develop new business and build long-term client relationships.

This is a field-based position covering London, the M25 and Home Counties, combining new business development with developing existing customer relationships.

You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, making initial contact with prospective clients and developing those opportunities into profitable business.
The role
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities
  • Proactively targeting prospective customers
  • Cold calling and generating new leads
  • Attending client meetings
  • Visiting existing and prospective customers
  • Developing relationships with contractors and other commercial clients
  • Identifying upcoming projects and sales opportunities
  • Qualifying enquiries and opportunities
  • Working closely with the internal team to produce quotations and proposals
  • Following up quotations and progressing opportunities
  • Negotiating with customers and closing business
  • Developing existing accounts and identifying further opportunities
  • Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and customer records
  • Working towards agreed sales targets and KPIs
  • Managing your diary effectively to maximise customer contact
The person Previous sales experience within construction or a closely related industry is essential.
You should have:
  • A minimum of two years' B2B sales experience
  • Experience selling into the construction sector
  • A proven track record of developing new business
  • Strong prospecting and lead-generation skills
  • Confidence dealing with customers face-to-face and over the telephone
  • Good commercial and negotiation skills
  • The ability to build long-term client relationships
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach
  • Good IT and CRM skills
  • A full UK driving licence
Experience selling construction products, building products, fit-out, facilities, specialist contracting or associated services would be particularly relevant.
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 + commission
