We are recruiting an experienced Business Rates Administrator to support a busy Local Government Revenues service.
Although the official job title is Customer Hub Officer, the priority for this position is someone with hands-on Business Rates administration experience, particularly using NEC Revenues & Benefits (RB Live) and associated document management systems.
This role can be undertaken remotely or from the Newcastle-under-Lyme office.
## The Role
You will process Business Rates changes and maintain accurate customer and account records, including:
- Processing businesses moving into and out of properties.
- Business Rates billing, collection and recovery.
- Applying exemptions and discounts.
- Processing rateable value changes.
- Updating accounts following changes in circumstances.
- Processing and maintaining payment arrangements.
- Managing documentation and correspondence.
- Resolving Business Rates enquiries accurately and efficiently.
- Ensuring records are updated in accordance with Data Protection requirements.
- Supporting customers by telephone where required.
- Escalating more complex cases to specialist teams when appropriate.
## Essential Systems Experience
Applicants must have previous experience using:
NEC Revenues & Benefits – RB Live NEC/Image or Information@Work document management systemsYou should be confident processing transactions directly within RB Live rather than simply having general customer service experience.
## About You
Ideally, you will have:
Previous Business Rates / NNDR administration experience within a local authority. Good working knowledge of Business Rates legislation and procedures. Experience processing liability changes, moves, billing, collection and recovery. Knowledge of Business Rates exemptions, discounts and rateable value changes. Strong accuracy and attention to detail. Confidence managing a caseload independently. Experience dealing with customer enquiries within a Revenues environment.Candidates with strong Council Tax administration experience may also be considered, provided they have the required RB Live and Image/Information@Work systems experience.
This opportunity would particularly suit a Business Rates Officer, NNDR Officer, Revenues Officer, Council Tax Officer or Revenues & Benefits Administrator with recent local authority experience.
