📍 Location: City Archives, Wolverhampton (Office Based)
🕒 Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
💷 Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour
📅 Contract: Up to 4 months initially, with potential for extension subject to service requirements
👤 Reporting to: Business Support Team Leader
📋 Grade: 4

About the Role

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an experienced Business Support Administrator to join the Families team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and proactive administrator to provide essential support across a busy service area.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality administrative and financial support, ensuring services operate efficiently and effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards.



Key Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive administrative support to the Families Directorate.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for internal and external enquiries.
  • Organising, attending, and supporting meetings, including taking minutes and distributing actions.
  • Managing diaries, scheduling meetings, and coordinating events and conferences.
  • Processing financial transactions and supporting budget administration.
  • Ordering goods, equipment, and resources in line with Council procedures.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email inboxes and post.
  • Supporting recruitment and interview processes, including preparing interview packs and correspondence.
  • Monitoring and managing Freedom of Information requests within required timescales.
  • Preparing professional documents, reports, presentations, and training materials.
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating service databases.
  • Supporting Health & Safety requirements within Families Directorate buildings.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and partner agencies to ensure effective service delivery.


Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

✅ Previous Business Support / Administration experience
✅ Strong organisational and time management skills
✅ Excellent communication and customer service skills
✅ Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
✅ Experience managing confidential information accurately and professionally
✅ The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
✅ Minute-taking experience is desirable
