Location: Peckham, London SE15

Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm (36 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days in the office / 3 days from home
Pay: £18.00–£20.00 per hour, depending on experience

About the Role
Southwark Council is looking for an experienced and highly organised Business Support Officer to join its Children’s Social Care service.
This is a busy and important role supporting Child Protection Conferences, requiring excellent administrative, IT and minute-taking skills. The successful candidate will be confident working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Key Responsibilities

Convene and minute Child Protection Conferences, with up to 5 meetings per week.

Produce accurate and high-quality minutes and records.

Draft records using a web-based application.

Ensure plans are completed and distributed within 24 hours.

Ensure minutes are completed and distributed within 15 working days.

Attend conferences held both virtually via Microsoft Teams and in person.

Provide effective administrative support within the Children’s Social Care service.

Manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.

Work collaboratively with professionals and agencies involved in Child Protection Conferences.
Essential Experience & Skills
The successful candidate must have:

Multi-agency minute-taking experience, ideally within Children’s Services, Social Care or a similar environment.

Very strong IT and database skills.

Proven administrative experience within a busy, highly pressured and multi-tasking environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

High attention to detail and accuracy.
-
The ability to work independently while also working effectively as part of a wider team.
Desirable Experience
-
Knowledge or experience of Child Protection.

Knowledge of Children’s Social Care.

Previous experience working within a Local Authority or similar public-sector environment.
Location & Hybrid Working
Travelling to the Peckham office is a requirement of the role. Conferences are held both virtually via Microsoft Teams and in person at Sumner House, Peckham, London SE15.
The role offers a hybrid working arrangement of 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home, subject to service requirements.
