Location: Chieveley, near Newbury
Contract: 5-Month Fixed-Term Contract (potential to be permanent)
Hours: 42.5 hours per week, with early starts, weekends and additional hours during peak periods

We are recruiting an experienced Butcher to join a busy seasonal production operation specialising in wild game and venison. This is an opportunity for a skilled individual to use their butchery experience in a practical, fast-paced environment.

The Role

• Break down, debone, trim and portion venison and other game products to customer specifications.
• Operate knives and processing equipment safely and efficiently.
• Maintain consistent product quality, weights and presentation while minimising waste.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, temperature control and traceability procedures.
• Complete production records and report any quality concerns.
• Support packing, labelling, cleaning and other production duties when required.

About You

• Previous commercial butchery, meat processing or carcass breakdown experience.
• Confident with knife handling, deboning, trimming and portioning.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and cross-contamination prevention.
• Reliable, detail-oriented and able to work efficiently in a chilled production environment.
• Flexible and happy to support the wider team during busy seasonal periods.

Experience with venison or wild game is advantageous, but a suitably skilled butcher from another meat-processing background may also be considered.
