Buyer

£35,000 to £45,000 | Full Time | Haverhill

The best Buyers rarely get noticed.

Not because they aren't important, but because everything simply works.

Production keeps moving. Suppliers deliver on time. Materials arrive when they're needed. Projects stay on schedule.

Behind every successful manufacturing operation is someone making hundreds of decisions that keep the business moving forward.

Our client is looking to appoint a Buyer who enjoys taking ownership, building strong supplier relationships and playing a central role within a busy manufacturing environment. Working closely with Production and Operations, you'll be responsible for ensuring materials, components and consumables are available exactly when they're needed, helping the business deliver projects safely, efficiently and on time.

This is far more than raising purchase orders.

You'll become a key member of the operations team, working with suppliers, coordinating deliveries, negotiating lead times and supporting production planning. You'll have the opportunity to influence purchasing decisions, improve supplier performance and make a genuine impact on the day-to-day success of the business.

If you're someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast paced environment and takes pride in keeping operations running smoothly, this is an opportunity to join a well-established business where your contribution will be recognised and valued.

The Role

As Buyer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Purchasing materials, components and consumables for production and operational requirements.
  • Obtaining quotations, comparing suppliers and negotiating lead times.
  • Raising and managing purchase orders.
  • Coordinating supplier deliveries to support production schedules.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing and project information within the company's ERP system.
  • Monitoring material availability and supporting production planning.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Working closely with Production and Operations to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Attending regular production meetings and supporting wider operational activities.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

  • Previous buying, purchasing or procurement experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction or a related industry.
  • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems. Experience with Strumis would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to identify problems and find practical solutions.

What's on Offer

  • Salary of £35,000 to £45,000, depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday working hours.
  • A varied and autonomous position where you'll play an important role within the business.
  • Long term stability with a well established and growing manufacturer.
  • The opportunity to work closely with experienced operational teams in a business where purchasing has a genuine influence on project delivery.
