Job Title: Buyer – Construction
Location: Rotherham
Salary: Up to £38,000

Elevation Recruitment Group is currently working on behalf of a well-established construction business to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their procurement function at their Rotherham site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with a background in construction, building materials, or a related sector to join a business that offers genuine scope for progression and involvement in high-profile projects.

The Role

As Buyer, you will take ownership of the purchasing process for materials, plant, and subcontracted services, working closely with project managers, site teams, and suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods required across live construction projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors for materials, plant hire, and services
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with a network of approved suppliers
• Managing purchase orders from requisition through to delivery, ensuring accuracy and value for money
• Monitoring market trends and material pricing to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Working closely with site and project teams to forecast material requirements against project programmes
• Resolving supply chain issues, delivery delays, and quality concerns as they arise
• Maintaining accurate procurement records and supporting month-end reporting
• Ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and health and safety standards

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a buying or procurement role within construction, civil engineering, or a related built environment sector
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost savings
• Knowledge of construction materials, plant, and subcontractor markets
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
• Proficiency with procurement or ERP systems
• CIPS qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous but is not essential
