Buyer – International Sourcing

B G Automotive is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Buyer to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong purchasing experience, particularly in sourcing and importing from the Far East. You'll play a key role in identifying, negotiating with, and managing overseas suppliers to ensure our business gets the right products at the right price.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing automotive parts and products from Far East markets, negotiating pricing and terms, and building strong supplier relationships overseas.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Sourcing and purchasing automotive parts, products and associated materials from Far East suppliers, in line with business requirements.
• Identifying and developing new supplier relationships.
• Managing day-to-day relationships with existing overseas suppliers.
• Negotiating pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and commercial agreements with suppliers.
• Monitoring market trends, product developments and supplier changes across sourcing regions.
• Identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve margins through overseas sourcing.
• Working closely with sales, warehouse, accounts and management teams.
• Monitoring supplier performance, pricing and lead times.
• Resolving purchasing, delivery and product-related issues efficiently.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing and supplier records.

About You

We're looking for someone who is commercially aware, organised and confident when dealing with international suppliers.

You will ideally have:

• Essential: proven experience sourcing and purchasing from the Far East, ideally within the automotive, motor trade, engineering, manufacturing or parts sector.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, including experience working across cultures and time zones.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of margins, cost control, import costs and international trade terms as well as currencies.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Good IT skills and experience using purchasing or stock management systems.
• A proactive approach and the confidence to make decisions.
• The ability to build strong, long-term relationships with overseas suppliers.
