We are currently seeking an experienced Buyer to join a leading Facilities Management contractor supporting large-scale projects across London. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional with experience in construction or Facilities Management who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Teams and Site Managers, you will be responsible for procuring materials, plant and subcontract packages, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage site requisitions and place purchase orders in line with company procedures.
  • Source competitive quotations from approved suppliers, considering lead times, pricing, discounts and commercial terms.
  • Negotiate the best value while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
  • Raise purchase orders and call-off orders, ensuring all required approvals are obtained.
  • Monitor delivery schedules, expedite urgent orders and chase back orders, keeping site teams informed throughout.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements and site restrictions are communicated.
  • Check products are suitable and meet company quality, warranty and safety requirements before placing orders.
  • Coordinate supplier returns and work with the Commercial Manager to ensure credits are processed and tracked accurately.
  • Maintain purchasing trackers and ensure procurement records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor outstanding orders through the Eque2 system, ensuring procurement and accounting records are aligned.
  • Resolve invoice queries promptly with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying opportunities to improve procurement efficiency and achieve cost savings.
  • Act as the key link between suppliers, site teams and the Commercial Manager.
  • Support the wider commercial team with ad hoc procurement and administrative duties as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience as a Buyer within construction, Facilities Management or a related industry.
  • Strong procurement and supplier management experience.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial awareness.
  • The ability to manage multiple live projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently within a small, collaborative team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and procurement systems; experience using Eque2 is highly advantageous.
  • A stable employment history with demonstrated longevity in previous roles.
  • A construction background would be beneficial.
