Our client, a well-established and growing engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Buyer to join their procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded purchasing professional to play a key role in supporting operational performance, supplier relationships, and supply chain efficiency within a dynamic environment.

Buyer - The Role

Working closely with the wider procurement and operations teams, you will be responsible for ensuring materials, components, and equipment are sourced effectively to support business requirements. You'll manage supplier relationships, monitor delivery performance, and help drive cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.

Buyer - Key Responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders to support operational and project requirements.
• Ensure materials and components are sourced in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Monitor supplier performance and proactively expedite orders to meet delivery schedules.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP/MRP system.
• Build and develop strong supplier relationships to support quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
• Assist with supplier negotiations and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
• Support inventory management activities, helping to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Investigate and resolve supply-related issues, working with suppliers to achieve effective outcomes.
• Produce purchasing and supplier performance reports as required.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, production, stores, and engineering functions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement and supply chain function.

Buyer - About You

• Previous experience within a Buyer, Procurement, or Purchasing position.
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
• Good understanding of inventory management and supply chain processes.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and report on purchasing data and KPIs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other business systems.
• A proactive approach and a continuous improvement mindset.
