C/C++ Engineer, UAV

IT Search & Select

Join a fast‑moving engineering team building next‑generation UAV and autonomous drone platforms. We’re looking for a UAV Software Engineer with deep C/C++, embedded systems expertise, and a passion for real hardware, real aircraft, and real‑world mission systems.

This is a hands‑on role where your code directly shapes flight behaviour, autonomy, safety, and system performance.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop and optimise embedded C/C++ software for UAV flight controllers and onboard systems.

  • Integrate sensors, radios, navigation modules, and mission‑critical components.

  • Work with RTOS, bare‑metal environments, and microcontroller‑level programming.

  • Implement control algorithms, safety logic, and real‑time data processing.

  • Support simulation, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and live flight trials.

  • Collaborate with avionics, hardware, and systems engineers to deliver robust airborne capability.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience in embedded C/C++ development.

  • Solid understanding of microcontrollers, low‑level programming, and hardware interfaces.

  • Experience with RTOS, bare‑metal systems, or real‑time embedded environments.

  • Familiarity with protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, DroneCAN.

  • Ability to debug embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and similar tools.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work in fast‑paced engineering teams.

Desirable Extras

  • Experience with UAVs, drones, robotics, or autonomous systems.

  • Knowledge of PX4, ArduPilot, or custom flight‑control stacks.

  • Understanding of control theory, sensor fusion, navigation, or flight dynamics.

  • Exposure to ARM‑based architectures, embedded Linux, or high‑performance avionics.
