CAD Design Engineer in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire

Our client is an established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of electrical switchgear and associated equipment. Staffbase Recruitment have been appointed to recruit for the position of CAD Design Engineer.

Salary: Negotiable DOE £38K -£45K + Benefits

The Role:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the CAD Design Engineer will develop mechanical designs, 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings for switchgear and associated equipment, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture and testing.

Your duties will include:

• Producing 3D CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings and bills of materials.

• Designing switchgear, enclosures and operating mechanisms.

• Working with electrical engineers to ensure designs meet functional, safety and installation requirements.

• Liaising with production, quality, testing, customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues.

• Participating in design reviews and supporting prototype manufacture, assembly and testing.

• Maintaining accurate drawings and technical documentation.

• Managing design tasks to meet project deadlines and contributing to continuous improvement.

Candidate:

Ideally you will hold a BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with practical experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo or Autodesk Inventor.

You will have experience producing engineering drawings and assemblies for manufacture, alongside a good understanding of mechanical design principles, tolerances, materials and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication and machining.

You will be methodical, organised and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience with electrical switchgear, enclosures, operating mechanisms or PDM systems would be advantageous.
