CAD Engineer

Elevation Recruitment have an excellent opportunity for an experienced CAD Draftsman / CAD Technician to join an established and growing specialist contractor delivering roofing, cladding and façade solutions across a range of commercial and industrial projects.

The business is performing strongly, with a healthy pipeline of both new-build and refurbishment projects, working alongside major main contractors on high-profile developments.

This role would suit a technically strong CAD professional with proven experience in cladding and façade detailing, who enjoys working on live projects and producing accurate, practical drawings from concept through to installation.

Working closely with design, commercial, project and site teams, you will be responsible for producing detailed 2D CAD drawings to support the delivery of roofing, cladding and façade projects.

You will work across a varied range of building-envelope systems, developing accurate and buildable details while coordinating drawings with internal teams, clients, architects, suppliers and site personnel.

• Produce detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings, including plans, elevations, sections and fabrication/detail drawings.
• Develop technical details for cladding, façade and roofing systems.
• Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications and survey information.
• Prepare drawing packages for client approval, manufacture and installation.
• Coordinate drawings with project managers, site teams, architects, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Incorporate design changes and maintain accurate drawing revisions.
• Support material take-offs and provide technical information to procurement and project teams.
• Maintain organised drawing registers and project documentation.
• Identify practical, cost-effective and buildable solutions during the design process.
• Manage multiple live projects and deliver drawings in line with agreed programmes and deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical drawing within the cladding, façade or building-envelope sector.

Experience will be considered in the following order:

• Cladding and façades – essential/preferred
• Curtain walling or wider building-envelope systems
• General building products/construction-related technical drawing

You will need strong AutoCAD 2D skills and the ability to interpret technical information and turn it into clear, accurate and practical drawings.

• Previous experience as a CAD Draftsman, CAD Technician or similar.
• Strong AutoCAD 2D experience.
• Proven experience producing technical drawings for cladding and/or façade projects.
• Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and technical detailing.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Experience within curtain walling, roofing, building envelopes or fabrication would also be advantageous.
• Revit or 3D modelling experience would be beneficial, but is not essential.
