CAD Technician Required in Essex

GVR Solutions are working with a well-established specialist joinery fit-out contractor based in Essex, delivering high-quality bespoke joinery and interior fit-out projects across the commercial fit out sector. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced CAD Technician to join their team and play a key role in the design and delivery of their projects.

Responsibilities of the CAD Technician:

  • Producing accurate 2D CAD drawings and detailed technical drawings for bespoke joinery projects.
  • Setting out bespoke furniture, cabinetry, kitchens, architectural joinery and other specialist joinery items.
  • Developing designs into fully detailed manufacturing drawings suitable for workshop production.
  • Producing elevations, sections, plans, details and assembly drawings.
  • Preparing cutting lists, material specifications and relevant production information where required.
  • Interpreting architectural drawings, specifications and client/design information.
  • Checking dimensions, materials, hardware, finishes and construction details.
  • Working closely with the workshop to ensure drawings are practical, achievable and production ready.
  • Liaising with designers, project managers, production staff and suppliers to resolve technical queries.
  • Making amendments and revisions efficiently throughout the project.
  • Ensuring all drawings are accurate and issued in accordance with company procedures and project requirements.
  • Identifying potential manufacturing or installation issues at the drawing/set-out stage.
  • Managing multiple projects and prioritising workloads to meet production deadlines

As a CAD Technician you must have/be:

  • Previous experience in bespoke joinery setting-out or CAD detailing. 
  • Strong knowledge of joinery construction and manufacturing methods.
  • Excellent understanding of dimensions, materials, tolerances and construction details.
  • Strong CAD skills, with experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to produce clear, accurate and practical manufacturing drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience producing cutting lists, manufacturing schedules & requisition sheets
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with workshop and project teams.
