Operating across Devon and Torbay, Headway Devon is a local charity dedicated to improving life after brain injury.
Brain injuries are a hidden disability that can affect personalities, relationships and the ability to lead an independent life. When a person’s life is turned upside down by a brain injury, we ensure they get the help and support they need and deserve.
We are now looking for a Carers Lead to join us on a permanent, part-time basis, working 6 hours per week, 1.30 pm - 7.30 pm. An immediate start is available.

The Role
As a Carers Lead, you will develop and deliver personalised support for informal carers and families of people with acquired brain injuries.
You will provide information, advice and guidance through telephone, face-to-face and online support to carers across Exeter and East Devon, helping them handle challenges and access appropriate services.
Working closely with colleagues, you will also organise support groups, workshops and consultation events that encourage involvement, build knowledge and strengthen the carers’ support network.
Additionally, you will:
- Develop and grow the carers support service
- Support access to young carers groups, bereavement support and respite services
- Communicate and collaborate with colleagues on carers projects
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the Carers Service
About You
To be considered as a Carers Lead, you will need:
- Experience of working autonomously and lone working
- A compassionate, sensitive approach to vulnerable people, maintaining their dignity and self-respect at all times
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Canva
- Good organisational and communication skills
This role will require evening and some weekend work.
