Caretaker / Site Officer – Secondary School (Liverpool)

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and skilled Caretaker to join our team at a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in St Helens. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented environment for students, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the school site is clean, safe, secure and well maintained at all times
  • Carry out basic maintenance and repairs (e.g. plumbing, painting, minor electrical work)
  • Open and close the school premises, including evenings or weekends when required
  • Monitor and maintain heating, lighting and alarm systems
  • Conduct regular health & safety checks and risk assessments
  • Manage site security, including responding to alarm call-outs where necessary
  • Oversee contractors on site and ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures
  • Assist with setting up rooms for events, exams and school activities
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous caretaker, facilities or maintenance experience (preferably in a school or similar setting)
  • Has good practical skills and can carry out minor repairs
  • Understands health and safety procedures
  • Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
  • Has good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
  • Is flexible and willing to work occasional evenings or weekends

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
