Job Title: Carpenter / Working Site Supervisor (80/20 Role)

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable Working Carpenter / Site Supervisor to run a commercial fit-out project across retail units in Birmingham.

This is a hands-on role with an 80/20 split: roughly 80% of your time will be spent on 1st and 2nd-fix carpentry tasks, with 20% dedicated to general site supervision, managing small sub-contractor teams, enforcing site safety, and keeping the job running on schedule.



Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on Carpentry (80%): Carry out high-quality 1st and 2nd fix carpentry across retail units, including kitchens, tea points, vanity units, toilets/bathrooms, doorsets, skirting, architraves, and worktops.

  • Site Supervision (20%): Oversee day-to-day site operations, run daily site inductions, coordinate trades, and ensure project milestones are hit.

  • Health & Safety: Maintain strict Health & Safety standards on-site, conduct RAMS reviews, and lead toolbox talks.

  • Client Liaison: Serve as the primary on-site contact for the client, trades, and off-site project managers.



Key Requirements

  • Qualifications:

    • Valid SMSTS (Essential)

    • First Aid at Work Certificate (Essential)

    • Valid CSCS Card (Essential)

  • Trade Experience: Proven track record as a qualified Carpenter with previous experience supervising commercial or retail fit-out sites.

  • Tools & Transport: Must have your own 110V power tools / cordless kit suitable for 2nd-fix retail joinery, plus transport to Birmingham.

  • Availability: Must be ready for an immediate start on Monday.
