Manufacturing | Procurement | CAPEX | Indirects

Are you a procurement professional who knows how to get things done?

We're looking for a CAPEX & Indirect Category Procurement Manager to take ownership of significant spend across a complex manufacturing environment.

We're looking for someone who can challenge suppliers, influence stakeholders, negotiate commercially and deliver measurable savings.

You'll take responsibility for categories including CAPEX, MRO, engineering services, professional services and other indirect spend, developing sourcing strategies and turning them into tangible commercial results.

What will you be doing?

  • Own and develop CAPEX and indirect procurement categories
  • Lead strategic sourcing, tenders and competitive RFP processes
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms and service agreements
  • Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships
  • Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Maintenance and other stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance and value improvement
  • Lead CAPEX procurement from specification through to supplier selection and implementation
  • Challenge existing supply arrangements and introduce greater commercial discipline
  • Develop category strategies and implement procurement improvement initiatives
  • Monitor supplier performance, contracts, KPIs and savings
  • Support wider procurement transformation and continuous improvement

What are we looking for?

You'll probably have a background in manufacturing, engineering, Supply Chain or another asset-intensive environment, with proven experience across CAPEX and indirect procurement.

More importantly, you'll be commercially confident. You'll know how to engage engineers and operational stakeholders, challenge suppliers and negotiate without damaging relationships.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Commercially driven and results focused
  • Strong in negotiation and supplier management
  • Comfortable managing significant CAPEX expenditure
  • Experienced in indirect/category procurement
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders
  • Analytical, organised and capable of turning data into decisions
  • Hands-on rather than purely strategic
  • Resilient, pragmatic and able to influence without relying on authority

CIPS or equivalent procurement qualifications would be advantageous, as would experience of ERP/procurement systems and structured sourcing methodologies.
