School Catering Assistants Required – Birmingham

Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Start Date: September (New School Term)

Hours: 10:00am – 2:30pm (hours may vary depending on the school)

The Supply Register is recruiting School Catering Assistants to work across our partner schools and Multi-Academy Trusts throughout Birmingham.

If you have previous experience working in a kitchen, café or catering environment and are looking for a rewarding, term-time-only role, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Assist with the preparation, setting up and serving of meals in line with food hygiene regulations.

  • Clean kitchen equipment and dining furniture within designated areas.

  • Assist with the moving and setting up of dining furniture where required.

  • Operate the cash register and undertake cashier duties where applicable.

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations at all times.

  • Work collaboratively with the catering team to provide an efficient and high-quality meal service.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive dining environment for pupils and staff.

  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the School Catering Manager in line with the needs of the service.

Requirements
  • Previous experience working within a kitchen, catering or café environment is desirable.

  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.

  • A full employment history covering the last 24 months.

  • A minimum of two professional references covering the last 24 months of employment or study (three if you have not previously worked with children).

  • Completion of an Employment History Form covering every month from leaving full-time education.

  • Character references where required to cover any gaps in employment.

  • Proof of right to work in the UK.

  • Two proofs of address, proof of National Insurance and any relevant name change documentation.

  • An overseas police check if you have lived outside the UK for more than six months.

  • Completion of our free mandatory safeguarding and compliance training.
