Salary: £27,761 – £30,654 per annum (Actual), NJC Grade E

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced catering professional who is available to start immediately and can take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy school kitchen.

The school is currently recruiting for a permanent Catering Manager, so this role is initially offered on a temporary/interim basis to provide cover while the permanent recruitment process takes place.

There may also be potential for the temporary position to develop into a permanent opportunity for the right candidate, should this be of interest.

You will take responsibility for the effective day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring students and staff receive a nutritious, high-quality catering service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.

• Preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality food.

• Managing and supporting the catering team.

• Planning menus and bringing creativity and culinary flair to the catering offer.

• Supporting themed days, events and activities.

• Promoting a positive food culture within the school.

• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene, health and safety and compliance.

• Managing stock, supplies and kitchen resources.

• Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Trust.

• Ensuring Trust policies and procedures are followed.

We are looking for someone who is experienced, reliable and confident leading a catering operation and who can step into the role and make an immediate impact.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous catering, kitchen management or supervisory experience.

• Experience leading or managing a catering team.

• Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and compliance.

• Excellent organisation and time-management skills.

• A creative approach to food and menu planning.

• Strong communication skills.

• A proactive, hands-on approach.

• A commitment to providing nutritious, high-quality food.

Previous experience working within a school or education setting would be advantageous, but is not essential for candidates with strong relevant catering experience.
