Job Title: Catering Tutor

Location: HMP Feltham (Feltham, Greater London)

Salary: From £30,000 + £5,000 London Weighting per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Are you a qualified chef, catering professional, or culinary trainer looking to bring your practical skills into a high-impact teaching environment? Do you want to play a crucial role in reducing reoffending by equipping young adult and adult learners with professional culinary techniques, hygiene standards, and workplace confidence for the hospitality industry?

We are recruiting for a dedicated Catering Tutor to join the vocational education team on-site at HMP Feltham. In this hands-on, rewarding role, you will deliver practical catering qualifications to small groups of learners in custody, helping them develop the culinary skills, teamwork, and professional habits needed to build successful careers upon release.

• Culinary Instruction: Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality practical catering and food preparation courses, combining hands-on kitchen training with essential classroom theory.

• Individual Training Plans: Establish and maintain tailored training plans for all learners, offering continuous guidance, support, and constructive feedback throughout their qualification.

• Food Safety & Workplace Standards: Instill strict industry compliance, including kitchen hygiene, food safety, health & safety, and professional discipline within a secure environment.

• Progress Tracking: Monitor student performance, track practical achievements, and maintain accurate course documentation in line with awarding body expectations.

• Rehabilitation Focus: Inspire and motivate learners to build self-esteem, work-readiness, and culinary competence aligned directly with employment opportunities in hospitality.

• Trade Qualifications: A Level 2 qualification (or higher) in Catering, Culinary Arts, or Professional Cookery.

• Vocational Expertise: Substantial hands-on experience as an expert in commercial catering, restaurant kitchens, or hospitality environments.

• Training Experience: Proven experience delivering vocational or on-the-job catering training, with the ability to use varied delivery methods to engage diverse learners.

• Teaching Qualifications: A teaching or assessing qualification is desirable. No teaching qualification? No problem! Full support and funding will be provided to help you achieve the required qualifications during your probationary period.
