CCTV-Operator – Day Shift

Location: Westminster and Hammersmith, London
Contract: Temporary assignment
Assignment dates: 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027
Hours: Thursday to Sunday, 7:00AM - 7:00PM 
Pay: From £19.98 per hour, plus weekend supplements. After 3 months, enhanced overtime rates apply, including time-and-a-half and double time where applicable

We are seeking an experienced and highly alert VSS CCTV Operator for a busy daytime control-room assignment supporting Public Protection services across Westminster and Hammersmith.


This role requires an individual who can proactively monitor a large CCTV network, spot emerging concerns quickly and coordinate effectively with police, council teams and external partners. You will play a vital role in preventing and responding to anti-social behaviour, theft, criminal activity and public-safety incidents.

Key responsibilities
  • Monitor CCTV cameras proactively and respond quickly to live incidents across the borough.

  • Detect, disrupt and report anti-social behaviour, crime, theft and other concerning activity.

  • Liaise with police and operational colleagues, sharing relevant CCTV information and intelligence.

  • Maintain clear, accurate and evidential-standard incident reports, logs and statements.

  • Conduct daily camera and ancillary-equipment checks, monitoring dashboards and logging faults without delay.

  • Manage CCTV video and information requests via Clearance or other relevant systems.

  • Monitor shared E-Mail inboxes and request-management systems to ensure timely responses.

  • Act as radio controller for the SafetyNet radio system.

  • Manage incoming calls, control-room access and visitor records in accordance with CCTV procedures.

  • Support operational responses to emergencies, major events and Silver/Gold-level incidents.

  • Attend court as a witness and present CCTV evidence where required.

  • Assist senior colleagues and undertake other administration necessary for the efficient operation of the control room.

About youYou will bring proven CCTV control-room experience, excellent concentration and a professional approach to public safety. You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing several priorities at once and making sound decisions under pressure.

Essential requirements
  • A valid SIA CCTV Operator licence, valid for the complete assignment period.

  • Previous CCTV control room experience.

  • Availability to work Thursday to Sunday,7:00am−7:00pm.

  • Ability and willingness to undertake 12-hour shifts.

  • Strong attention to detail and confidence in identifying suspicious or criminal behaviour.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to produce factual, accurate reports and evidential records.

  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office, email and CCTV/control-room software.

  • Awareness of health and safety, licensing legislation, CCTV regulations and information-handling requirements.

  • Level 2, or equivalent, in English and Maths.

  • Ability to complete a DBS check.

First Aid, fire safety and operational training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CCTV professional to support an important front-line public-safety service.
