CDM Consultant / Principal Designer

An established and growing health and safety consultancy is looking for a CDM Consultant / Principal Designer to join its expanding team.

The consultancy has over 25 years' experience delivering specialist health and safety services across the UK, working with clients in commercial property, healthcare, residential, retail, education, industrial, rail and leisure.

Most projects are based across Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, with some further afield. This is a hybrid working role with an expectation of attending the Derby office approximately one day per week.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced and supportive team, you'll manage a varied portfolio of projects, providing practical CDM advice and supporting clients in meeting their statutory responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations on a range of construction projects
  • Advising clients, designers and contractors on CDM compliance and construction health & safety
  • Preparing and reviewing Pre-Construction Information Packs
  • Producing CDM Risk Registers, Construction Phase Plans and Health & Safety Files
  • Undertaking site inspections and providing practical guidance
  • Building strong working relationships with clients and project teams
  • Supporting the continued development of best practice across the business

Experience

  • Experience working as a CDM Consultant, Principal Designer or within a construction health & safety role
  • A sound understanding of CDM Regulations and wider health and safety legislation
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH qualification and/or a degree, HNC or HND in Construction, Health & Safety, Building Surveying, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Membership of IOSH or APS (or be working towards professional membership).
  • A full UK driving licence
