Certification Engineer

Forge Partnerships

Groupe Atlantic is looking to appoint a Certification Engineer to join its Research & Development team in Hull, playing a key role in ensuring new and existing products meet the regulatory, certification and compliance requirements needed for markets across the UK and internationally.

This is an opportunity to join a major engineering and manufacturing organisation at an exciting time of investment and technological change, working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams developing the next generation of heating products and technologies.

The Company

Groupe Atlantic is one of Europe’s leading specialists in heating, ventilation, cooling and hot water solutions, employing more than 11,000 people internationally.

Hull is a key location within the Group’s UK operations and home to significant manufacturing, engineering and R&D capabilities, supporting well-established brands including Ideal Heating.

With continued investment in its Hull facilities and the development of new technologies across heating, heat pumps and connected products, Groupe Atlantic offers the opportunity to build a career within a major local employer while benefiting from the scale and resources of an international organisation.

The Role

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Certification Engineer will take responsibility for certification and product compliance activities across both new product introduction and engineering change programmes.

Working closely with engineering, quality and wider project teams, you’ll help ensure products meet the relevant standards and approval requirements for their intended markets.

You’ll also act as a key source of knowledge within the team, supporting and mentoring colleagues on matters relating to certification, product compliance and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting CE applications for manufactured and factored products across UK and European requirements.
  • Managing and developing the internal product certification database, including instrumentation records.
  • Generating, approving and managing Declarations of Conformity across product streams.
  • Working closely with Quality Systems Engineering on standards management and BSI subscriptions.
  • Managing relationships with UK, European and US approval bodies including BSI, KIWA and Intertek.
  • Supporting engineering teams with technical database submissions such as PCDB.
  • Ensuring certification and approval activity is delivered in line with programme timescales and budgets.
  • Supporting engineering teams with regulatory and certification knowledge throughout product development.
  • Developing and improving processes relating to product approvals and certification.
  • Keeping up to date with regulatory developments across existing and future product markets.

What We’re Looking For

  • You’ll ideally hold an HNC, degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering-related discipline, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.
  • You should bring a strong technical or engineering background, ideally gained within product development, compliance, certification or continuous improvement.
  • Experience within heating, HVAC, refrigeration or combustion products would be particularly advantageous, alongside knowledge of relevant product regulations and standards.
  • Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who can communicate technical information clearly, build relationships across engineering teams and external approval bodies, and manage competing priorities through to completion.
  • You’ll need to be comfortable making decisions, working to deadlines and taking ownership of your area of expertise.

Why Groupe Atlantic?

This is an opportunity to join a business combining more than a century of engineering and manufacturing heritage in Hull with the international scale of Groupe Atlantic.

You’ll work within an established R&D environment at a time when the heating industry is undergoing significant technological change, with continued investment in new products, facilities and lower-carbon heating technologies.

For an experienced certification, compliance or product engineer, the role offers the chance to become a key technical authority within the business while contributing directly to the development and launch of products across multiple markets.
