Our client are a young, vibrant, award-winning, building consultancy practice providing tailored services to the property sector. Formed over 10 years ago, and with many years’ experience in the property and construction industry.

Our client are retained surveyors for a number of prestigious and Listed Buildings in London. In addition, they undertake a variety of work on a wide range of property portfolios predominantly through links with a number of residential property management companies. The majority of the work is based in and around Central London.

Chartered Building Surveyor Role

Due to continued growth of the company, we have a vacancy in the central London office (Waterloo, SE1) for a Chartered Building Surveyor to work in a fun, but hardworking environment, to deliver a full suite of building surveying duties to the range of predominantly residential and commercial clients.
This position would be an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified Chartered Building Surveyor looking to develop their career within a forward-thinking, progressive and expanding company. The team currently consists of seven Building Surveyors (four of which are Chartered), an Operations Manager and a Team Assistant. A group of quick thinking and energetic people who work hard and take pride in thier prestigious Client portfolio.

Responsibilities

The role will include acting as lead surveyor with the following project commissions:

Contract administration duties (Project values up to £(phone number removed);
Insurance reinstatement projects;
Planned maintenance surveys;
Design and specification of maintenance works;
Condition surveys;
Defect investigation and diagnosis;
Licence for Alterations;
Party Wall matters;
Pre-Acquisition Surveys;
Project Management;
Employer’s Agent roles;
Reinstatement Cost Assessments (for Insurance Purposes).
Assisting with the development of new and repeat business where possible;
Managing the client relationship and service delivery on a project-by-project basis in conjunction with senior colleagues;
Management of team members;
Assisting the graduates with their APC training (to compliment the external consultant we utilise for staff training).

Employee Requirements, Chartered Building Surveyor 

Experience in a wide range of Building Surveying services; (Residential experience would be advantageous but not essential);
Ability to work on own initiative and manage a wide range of commissions;
Ability to achieve pre-set fee targets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis;
Desire to develop a career within a consultancy environment;
Management of the surveying team members and clients as the role develops;
Developing new client relationships;
Good team working skills and ability to communicate well at all levels;
Current full, clean driving licence is advantageous but not essential;
Prepared to travel as required;
Must have proficient IT skills, particularly MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) as a minimum. Knowledge of CAD systems would be an advantage although not essential;
Sound knowledge of construction and basic knowledge of building services;
Maintaining continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with RICS requirements;
Assisting Graduate and Assistant Building Surveyors with their APC;
Effective problem-solving skills;
Ability to present well with good literacy and numeracy skills;
Experience of managing clients and their expectations;
Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements;

Remuneration & Package:

Holiday: Starting at 28 days per annum including public holidays;
Pension: Option to join company pension upon successful completion of probation period;
