About the Role
We are recruiting for a passionate and reliable Chef to join a warm and welcoming residential care setting in Crosby.
This is a part-time position working 25.5 hours per week, preparing and serving nutritious, home-cooked meals that support the health, wellbeing, and enjoyment of residents.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality catering services, ensuring meals are freshly prepared, well-presented, and tailored to residents' dietary requirements and individual preferences.
About the Setting
This is a charming, detached Victorian care home full of character, offering a true "home from home" environment for residents.
Set in a peaceful cul-de-sac close to local transport links and the seafront, the home provides residential and respite care for up to 20 residents, including those living with dementia.
The home features spacious communal lounges, a separate dining room, and comfortable, personalised bedrooms. Residents are encouraged to make their rooms their own, and families are welcomed at any time. There is always a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on warmth, dignity, and individuality.
The team takes pride in creating a welcoming environment where residents feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home.
Key Responsibilities
As a Chef, you will:
- Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals in line with planned menus
- Cater for a range of dietary, cultural, and medical requirements
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and HACCP procedures
- Monitor stock levels, rotate stock, and assist with ordering supplies
- Work closely with the care team to meet residents' nutritional needs
- Ensure meals are attractively presented and served on time
- Contribute to creating an enjoyable dining experience for residents
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred)
- Ability to prepare meals for a variety of dietary needs
- Good organisational and time management skills
- A caring, patient, and respectful approach when working with older people
- Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
- A positive, reliable, and flexible attitude
